John McCain 2008 Launches New TV Ad: "Tiny""

ARLINGTON, VA -- Today, U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign released its latest television ad, entitled "Tiny." The ad highlights Barack Obama's belief that Iran "doesn't pose a serious threat" even though they support terrorism, are developing nuclear capabilities and repeatedly threaten to eliminate Israel. If Barack Obama doesn't consider those "serious threats" then he is dangerously unprepared to be president. The ad will air in key states.

Barack Obama Email to Supporters-Rolling up our Sleeves

This has been a convention of extraordinary moments. Ted Kennedy passing the torch to a new generation. Michelle Obama moving the crowd to tears. And tonight, Joe Biden will give the biggest speech of his life.

Millions of Americans are watching and counting on us to win this election and deliver real change.

They're not just counting on Barack and Joe -- they are counting on you. Hillary couldn't have said it better: "None of us can afford to sit on the sidelines."

This is our one shot, so let's roll up our sleeves -- or risk another four or eight years of the same disastrous Bush-McCain policies.

Sign up right now for events happening this week in your community.

Tomorrow, Barack will accept the Democratic nomination, and supporters all across the country are getting together to be a part of this historic moment.

Then, this weekend, we'll kick off the biggest voter registration and mobilization drive in the history of politics.

Attend a Convention Watch Party this Thursday evening, and find a Weekend of Action event near you:

http://my.barackobama.com/WOAevents

If this convention has shown us anything, it's how much energy and enthusiasm is out there -- and how much passion for change.

Voters in all 50 states are realizing what's at stake. And they're hearing Barack's message of change in every corner of the country.

Let's seize this incredible opportunity and work together to get out the vote like never before.

Attend a Convention Watch Party and sign up for a Weekend of Action event near you.

Supporters like you have brought us this far, but there's still a lot work to be done.

At this crucial time in our campaign, it's never been more important to get involved.

Thanks,

Jon

Statement by John McCain on the Census Bureau Poverty and Health Insurance Report

ARLINGTON, VA -- Today, U.S. Senator John McCain issued the following statement on the Census Bureau Poverty and Health Insurance Report:

"Today's announcement reminds us that Americans are suffering in a struggling economy. Too many of our neighbors are living in poverty, too many can't find a job, and too many are living without health insurance.

"My health care plan will substantially reduce the rolls of the uninsured by providing a $5,000 per family refundable tax credit that will help more Americans get the coverage they need or maintain the coverage they already have. We'll also undertake meaningful reforms to restrain the out-of-control growth in health care costs that is putting coverage out of reach for too many Americans.

John McCain Press Release-Statement By John McCain On The Situation In Georgia

Statement By John McCain On The Situation In Georgia

ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today issued the following statement on the situation in Georgia:

"Russia today took a significant and negative step in recognizing the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, two separatist Georgian provinces. In April, I warned that Russia was pursuing a policy of de facto annexation that threatened to undermine security and stability in the region. Today's decision, the culmination of a long effort aimed at splitting these two regions away from Georgia, represents a major step forward in that process. Moscow's action deserves condemnation from the entire international community, and Russia must understand that its violations of international law carry consequences.    More>>>

Barack Obama Press Release-Statement from Senator Obama on Russia's Decision to Recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as Independent States

Statement from Senator Obama on Russia's Decision to Recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as Independent States
Chicago, IL | August 26, 2008
Chicago, IL -- "I condemn Russia's decision to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states and call upon all countries of the world not to accord any legitimacy to this action.

"The United States should call for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council to condemn Russia's decision in coordination with our European allies. The U.S. should lead within the UN and other international forums to cast a clear and unrelenting light on the decision, and to further isolate Russia internationally because of its actions. The OSCE must also send a serious monitoring group to Georgia.    More>>>

Statement from Senator Obama on the Census Income, Health Insurance and Poverty Numbers
Chicago, IL | August 26, 2008

Chicago, IL -- "Today's news confirms what America's struggling families already know - that over the past seven years our economy has moved backwards. We have now lived through first so-called economic 'expansion' on record where typical families saw their incomes fall, and working-age households lost more than $2,000 from their paychecks. Another 816,000 Americans fell into poverty in 2007 - including nearly 500,000 children - bringing the total increase in Americans in poverty under President Bush to 5.7 million. And on Bush's watch, an additional 7.2 million Americans have fallen into the ranks of the uninsured.    More>>>
